So 2014 came to a rather chilly, cold and frosty end here in Scotland, and 2015 began in the same way. But for us, it was the perfect excuse for a house party, prosecco, roasted marshmallows over the fire and a hot chocolate after midnight. Perfect Hogmany, right?!

I'm not one for new years resolutions, "new year, new me" but one thing I was fancying in the run up to Christmas was a re-vamp of my makeup collection. Meaning, I need to sort through all the stuff I've hoarded through the years - but that's a job for another day.

I was luckily enough to purchase a few bits and pieces in London, and to be gifted some lovely pieces on Christmas Day. The boyfriend did good - with the Chanel polish and Naked 3 Palette (pictured above), and my parents gave me the beautiful OPI polish in Susi & The 7 Dusseldorfs. Both the OPI and Chanel go perfectly with my new Johnstons of Elgin poncho which I've yet to show you, after lack of daylight ruined my last attempt at photos for you guys!

In Selfridges, I had my makeup done by YSL's Fred Letailleur, International Makeup Artist. He was a lovely guy and created a really beautiful look for me, with naturally enhanced smokey eyes & red lip. Naturally, this successfully encouraged some purchasing, and the Afrique palette is versatile, easy to use and YSL claim it unlocks the secret to achieving the perfect smokey eyes. Each palette is inspired by a different House of Yves Saint Laurent collection, so don't expect them all to be the muted tones I chose here! Other palettes include dark blues, others orange & cranberry pinks - so there is something for every skin tone and personality!

After my appointment with Fred,  I walked away with The Touche Eclat Foundation, The Couture Eye Pallette in Afrique, Shocking Mascara, Rouge Pur Couture Lipstick in No 67 & two free full sized nail polishes! Thank goodness for Selfridges' Christmas Comes Early to save me some money...
You'll notice the lipstick isn't included in the above pictures. I lost it. Yes, It's disappeared off the face of the earth, a brand new, unused, beautiful YSL. I know you makeup lovers can sympathise with the situation.

I wanted to do this post as a little first look, and will in the near future go on to do more detailed posts of the different products. I feel it's best to wait until I've used these all a bit longer since these are all still relatively new to my makeup collection.

Let me know in the comments below if you already own these, or if they're maybe on a makeup wish list or two!

Until next time lovelies, Much love & Happy 2015!
