Happy Birthday

Today was my Dad's birthday (I better not share his age on here..) but to celebrate Dad, Mum, me & my two sisters went out for a lovely meal to a local restaurant, The 1629, where the food was delicious and we left feeling just a little stuffed! Was also one of my best friends, Alison, 20th Birthday today also - so a huge happy birthday to you too babes! Welcome to newly leaving behind the teen years along with me... *gulp!*

I wanted to wear something smart but not OTT smart, so I went with this relatively new blue maxi skirt from New Look (I actually admit that I wore it to my own birthday meal the other week, although since no photo's were taken/ I forgot to take pictures if my outfit it's not been posted before, so I'm safe!) for a bright pop of colour, and kept the colour palette of the rest of the outfit plain and simple so that I didn't have too much going on! Blazer added to the smart look, as well as keeping me warm - though the restaurant was roasty toasty so it didn't stay on for very long!
We all got the the restaurant and felt a little overdressed, but considering that it's a nice place to eat - I'm going to say that everyone else there was underdressed! ;)

The white lace top I think goes so perfectly with the skirt, and is a brand new one! My auntie has just come over from the states for a couple of weeks and brought me  & my sisters each a Gilly Hicks top over!
For all the Brit's out there; you've probably never heard of Gilly Hicks.Well, it's another brand deriving from the famous Abercrombie & Fitch, and is known as their 'cheeky cousin' and the only A&F brand with a 'non-American image'. They tend to specialise in beautiful PJ's, underwear and general casual wear, and I love them! And I especially love this top.

To keep the outfit just a little edgy and to break up the outfit a little bit, I added this gold and black chain belt from Primark (absolute bargain and essential piece in my wardrobe lately!) which you can see in more detail in the last picture - can't believe it was only like, £3! Amazing!

So to quickly re-cap...

Maxi Skirt - New Look
White Lace Top - Gilly Hicks
Blazer - H&M
Heels - Dorothy Perkins

Hope you like this look, and if you do - please hype as it's also on Lookbook.nu at the following link :)
