KHAKI.

Now, think that you're on a hot African safari and you have the feel for this major SS15 Khaki trend. With brands such as Nicholas K, Marc Jacobs, Chanel, Gucci & Rodarte to name but a few showing off this trend, it's safe to say they've all well and truly jumped aboard the safari truck this summer.
And, from the recent AW15 shows, it looks like it's set to stay for future seasons too, especially after the pure array of Khaki that was Ralph Lauren's AW15.

When I think of the urban safari/khaki trend, the standout item is the shirt dress. Versatile, classic and easy to wear -  and something completely new to my wardrobe.   Until, I happened to pop by New Look on Sunday, and I found this unexpected piece for only £12. Floral & khaki was never a combination I thought I'd fall for, but I actually really like that this print just adds something a bit more unique to what could have been just a plain, khaki dress.

I hummed and aaahed over the catwalk versions, but couldn't quite commit myself to a purchase. Khaki is not a colour I've worn since the early noughties (who didn't have a pair of khaki combats & think they were cool?), but thankfully my style credentials have improved incredibly since my early teenage days!

Having a quick browse on Princes St this weekend, myself and Jenn quickly popped into New Look to kill some time after a Nando's lunch, and our impending Costa trip.
I very rarely shop in New Look, but I'm very pleased I did after finding this shirt dress for an amazing £12! It's so silky and soft (maaaaajor kudos in my books) and I don't have anything like this already in my wardrobe. I like that I can style it up as I dress, as I did today, or I could wear it open as a loose shirt over a simple pairing of a plain black t-shirt and my beloved black skinnies.
If I'm feeling optimistic, this could be great at the pool, over a bikini - sitting in the sun with a refreshing cocktail! Aaaaah, now to book a holiday in the sunshine...

What do you think of this look? It's something new for me but I think I could get very used to the shirt dress, they seem to be the perfect piece of casual wear!

Much love,
